Beep Beep, This is not a test: First Coast News hit with FCC fine over Jaguars ad

The parent company of First Coast News has been fined by the Federal Communications Commission after an investigation into a complaint about a Jacksonville Jaguars advertisement that used similar tones to the Emergency Alert System.

Tegna Inc. has agreed to pay $55,000, according to an FCC consent decree.

The advertisement aired from August 6 to 9 with the EAS system announcing that “this is not a test” while defensive end Dante Fowler preformed a pass rushing drill.
