USF professor tapped as only non-astronaut for Mars-related research expedition

A University of South Florida professor is the only member of a team not affiliated with a space program that will spend 10 days at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean simulating conditions in deep space necessary for exploring Mars.

Dr. Dominic D’Agostino was chosen based on his research in the USF Hyperbaric Biomedical Research Laboratory exploring how extreme environments affect the human body, according to USF.
